Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 August 2026

Draft for review. This policy is written to align with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Please confirm the highlighted details (business address, email tools, analytics and where data is stored) and have it checked before go-live. Text in square brackets marks something to confirm.

The Innovation Activator Limited ("Innovation Activator", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, and your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. It applies to this website and to the way we work with clients and enquirers.

Who we are

The Innovation Activator Limited is a New Zealand company.

  • Contact email: hello@innovationactivator.nz
  • Postal address: Gracefield Innovation Quarter, 69 Gracefield Road, Lower Hutt, Wellington 5010

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, contact us at the email above.

The information we collect

We only collect personal information that we need to respond to you and to provide our services. This includes:

  • Information you give us directly. When you complete our contact form, book a session, or use our AI+ readiness check, we may collect your name, company, email address, and anything you choose to tell us about your business.
  • Information from working with us. If you become a client, we collect the information we need to deliver the work, which may include business documents, data and system details you share with us for a project.
  • Website usage information. We do not run analytics on this website. We do not track you, build a profile of you, or measure which pages you visit. Our website host keeps standard server records, which include your IP address, for security and reliability. Our web fonts are served by Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads.

The AI+ readiness check runs in your browser. Your answers and score are shown to you on the page and are not sent to us or stored unless you choose to contact us and share them.

How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and arrange a session or conversation;
  • Provide, manage and improve our services to you;
  • Send you information you have asked for, or updates you have opted in to receive;
  • Meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.

We will only use your information for the purpose you gave it to us, or a directly related purpose you would reasonably expect. We do not sell your personal information.

How we use AI tools

AI is central to the work we do, so we are deliberate about how it touches your information.

  • We use AI tools to help us draft, analyse and build systems. When we do this in the course of client work, we use business information you have shared with us for that project.
  • We take care to use AI tools and settings that do not train public AI models on your data, and we favour tools and configurations that keep your information private to your project.
  • For sensitive client work, we can build private systems that keep your data within your own environment. How AI handles your data is scoped and agreed with you as part of any engagement.
  • We do not use the personal information collected through this website to train AI models.

If you would like to know exactly which tools we would use for your project and how your data would be handled, ask us. We will set it out plainly before any work begins.

Sharing your information

We keep your information within our team and do not share it outside Innovation Activator except:

  • With trusted service providers who help us run our business, who may only use it to provide their service to us. These are Microsoft 365 (email, documents and calendars), Kit (our newsletter), Vercel (website hosting) and Calendly (booking sessions);
  • Where you have asked us to, or given your consent;
  • Where we are required or permitted to by law.

Storage, security and overseas providers

We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe from loss, misuse and unauthorised access.

Our email, documents and calendars run on Microsoft 365 in a New Zealand tenancy, using Microsoft's New Zealand data centre region. Our other providers store information outside New Zealand: Kit and Vercel are United States companies, and Calendly is a United States company. Where information is held overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it has comparable privacy protection to that required under New Zealand law.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law, and then delete or de-identify it.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy;
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong;
  • Ask us to stop sending you marketing or updates at any time.

To make a request, email hello@innovationactivator.nz. We will respond as soon as we can, and within 20 working days as required by the Act.

Cookies

This website does not set any cookies of its own, and we do not use tracking or advertising cookies. If you follow a link from here to another service, such as booking a session through Calendly, that service will set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.

Making a complaint

If you are concerned about how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its "last updated" date, will always be on this page.
